I'm thinking about get back to racing this year. The vintage class seems to have all but disappeared so I'm thinking an EX250. The old ones are have wheels, anyone know what the options are. I still have to find a bike so we'll see how it goes but just looking at the options.

If you are looking at an older one with 16" wheels the Pirelli Sport Demon seems to be the choice I see most used. Second would probably be the BT45

Avon RoadRiders if you can still get them...I ran them on my FZ600 and they hold up well.

You would gave more choices with 17" wheels

I'm guessing it's all going to depend on what I can find a bike.

Don't quote me on this but, I've heard that you can use the newer Ninja 250R rims on the older Ninja 250's. I think that some of the WERA racers had done this. There maybe some sort of conversion required to do it though.

There is some work involved in doing the 17" swap on first gens. Also I don't think you can get bodywork for the pre 2007.

Thanks for the info. We'll see how things work out. It'll be a pretty stock bike whichever way I go.

There is a few ZZR250 around for sale, they have the stronger first gen engine an aluminum frame and 17" wheels. I'd like to see a couple of these show up!
